Student achievement is directly influenced by parent involvement and community engagement

Parent Teacher Association(PTA)

Keeping parents and community members involved in the educational process is the key to student success

Parent Teacher Association(PTA)

The American School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) supports the development of the unity among parents, faculty, administration, students and staff by cooperating to enrich the lives of the students and guide parents towards a better understanding of the aims, policies and philosophy of American  School. The achievement of this mission relies upon parent cooperation and volunteerism.

With your help, PTA is able to provide a wide variety of activities such as guest speakers, welcoming of new students, the International Food Festival, school dances, movie nights, homeroom parents for Primary and Elementary classes and so much more.  All funds generated from PTA sponsored activities are used to fund PTA programs and enrichment programs for students.

PTA encourage students to participate in events such as International Day, the Winter Fair, event ticket sales, and so much more. The amazing work of PTA develops a genuine sense of community that all our students hugely benefit from.

PTA’s success depends on parent involvement.  Being a PTA volunteer is the first step toward making new friends and learning about new cultures.  These opportunities offer parents a chance to participate in an area of interest or expertise.

PTA organise guest speakers, social events, coffee mornings, meet and greet sessions for new families, adult sporting events, opportunities to volunteer and assist in a range of aspects of school life. In addition, they provide an effective support system to parents.

PTA supports the American School staff in a range of ways – by organising class functions, assisting with displays, supporting children with reading, sport, school development and excursions.  PTA welcome s volunteers who wish to act as Communication Coordinators to help with these activities and to ensure all parents within our school are kept updated on all events and developments.

American School is adapting courses, both during the regular school day and after school, that allow students to learn in their communities. The aim of these courses is to more fully engage students, by harnessing their natural interest in where and how they live and by using their own community as a source of learning and action.

Mission Statement

You can play an active role in your child’s education. As a parent, it’s only natural that you’ll want to take an active role in your child’s education. At American Schools, we actively encourage parents to engage with their child’s learning and are leading the way by becoming the first school in Sweden to introduce a parental engagement strategy into all our schools.
